FanFest: 26DEC13 THRU 02JAN14

Hello REV Band Families:

The fundraising opportunities don’t stop when our marching season stops!  What are your plans to close out 2013 and bring in 2014?  Thanks to some diligent work by band booster Darla Stern our band families have been given the opportunity to participate in a fundraiser that promises to be beneficial to your band students fair share account.

This fundraiser will entail selling concessions to the attendees of Fan Fest 2013 on December 28, 29, 30 and 31, the Rose Parade – January 1st, 2014 and the Post Parade Festivities on January 2nd, 2014.

What are Fan Fest and the Post Parade Festivities?  I’m glad you asked. Fan Fest involves all the events leading up to the Rose Parade in lovely Pasadena, California. That includes Band Fest and float building at the Rose Bowl.  The post parade festivities will be the float viewing after the parade at Pasadena High School.

What are the specifications?

  • We have been given 6 concession selling days in a high traffic location for this event.
    • December 28, 29, 30 & 31
    • January 1 & 2
  • The hours for the event are as follows:
    • Sat, Dec 28 - 8:00 to 6:00
    • Sun, Dec 29 - 8:00 to 6:00
    • Mon, Dec 30 - 8:00 to 6:00
    • Tues, Dec 31 - 8:00 to 3:00
      • Tues, Dec 31 - 3:00 - Training for Post Parade events for the Leader ONLY -(mandatory)
    • Wed, Jan 1 - 9:00 to 6:30
    • Thurs, Jan 2 - 7:00 to 6:00 - BEST profit day

 Location: Pasadena, California

Our organization is required to send 20 people per day to man the stations.

  • Those 20 people are not limited to band students and/or parents of band students. The 20 for the day can be made up of band students, parents and any other family members or friends who are interested in helping your band student earn money towards their fair share.
  • All participants must be at least 15 years old.

This is not a REV High School Event

  • Students will need to accompany a responsible adult, not necessarily the parent.
  • A contract will be drawn up and each person is responsible for keeping a copy of it with them at all times.
Estimate of profit per person is $50-$75 per day
  • Volunteers earn 10% sales minus tax for each day.

What do the REV Band Boosters need to make this happen???  We need a Booster or two or three to volunteer to lead this event.

  • This responsibility may be split because it is a long distance and a lot of days to be available
  • One leader must be present each day we are scheduled to be at the events to make sure all volunteers arrive for their shifts and handle other leader responsibilities
  • The lead person may also be in charge of scheduling volunteers for the day

This is a great opportunity for the band and a profitable and fun fundraiser for those families that can use the fair share.  If you are willing to be part of this opportunity please respond back to this email or you can also email Bekky Lee at ways.and.means@revband.org.

Thank You,

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!  Below is the directions for the fan fest event.  These directions are only for Fan Fests, the Post Parade (Jan. 1st and Jan 2nd) directions will be sent later.

Our booth is in "Lot I" of the rose bowl. Since you will be coming from the Inland Empire area, once you are on the 210, exit Mountain St, left turn onto Seco st, and left into Arroyo Blvd. "Lot I" will be on your left side as the parking attendants will be directing you to a parking space.

"Lot I" is where it says brook side park. On the map for some reason it does not show the parking lot but it is there. If you have any question, feel free to ask!

Hello REV Band Families:

I've had several questions regarding how this fundraiser impacts fair share accounts.

Just to clarify - If you have already met your fair share total for the 2013 marching season, you can still continue to earn fair share credits to be applied to the 2014 marching season, 2014 Winterguard, or any future spring band activities.

Your fair share account will accumulate and roll over from year to year. I encourage every one to participate in as many fundraisers as you can. It really makes a difference.

Personal testimony - My husband and I had two kids in marching band the past three seasons. For at least two of those seasons we had earned enough in fair share credit that we did not have to pay anything out of pocket.

It is never too early or too late to start earning fair share credit!

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
