Stater Bros Believe Walk: 06OCT13

How It Began...

Our group’s first walk with the Stater Bros Believe Walk began the first Sunday of October 2010. We were Team Diane, in support of our friend and REVHS band booster member Diane Young, who was at that time battling a very aggressive form of breast cancer. It was a group primarily made up of REVHS Band Boosters, but friends and families who were not boosters also joined our cause. Wearing our homemade pink and white t-shirts, holding poster signs expressing our support and hope for our cause, and filled with a determination to make a difference, we walked for our friend Diane. We moved together as one entity, as one family, hoping that one day Diane would be able to join the team named in her honor.

Unfortunately, Diane did not win her battle with cancer, and in 2011 and 2012, we walked with her spirit and her memory in our hearts, filling us with both determination and sadness. With this drive and passion, Team Diane alone has raised more than $5000 in the past three years with hope that continued research will someday find a cure for cancer!

The Fight Continues...

Since that first walk in October 2010, the REVHS band boosters, their families, and their friends have encountered more sickness and heartbreak from many different types of cancer. For this reason (and at the suggestion of Diane’s husband, Lonny), we have decided to change the name of our team to encompass the entire “family” that we, as band boosters, embrace. We are the Team Wildcat Band Family! And we encourage you to come join us on Sunday, October 6th, to walk, to support, to donate, to fight, to encourage, to hope, and to remember. Together, we can make a difference!
