2013-02-18: REV Band Boosters: Beyond Wonderland Concert More Info

For those of you needing more information before you decide whether or not to attend the Aramark training to work concessions at the San Manuel Amphitheater, here is what I know so far:

What: Beyond Wonderland Concert (Otherwise known as an electronic dance party [not a rave])
When: Saturday, March 16, 2013
Time: Gates open at 3PM/ Concert begins at 5PM / Concert Ends at 2AM
Location: San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore

This concert is expected to be huge. They are talking OZ Fest huge.
No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the gates.
Expectation is that 90% of the attendees will be under the age of 40.

This concert is early in the San Manuel season. The next concert after this one is not scheduled until June.

I know we are all busy, but as I was sitting in training yesterday (with only one other REV Band parent) and I listened to the expectations of the magnitude of this concert I began to wonder, as a non-profit band booster organization can we afford to skip out of this concert and lose out on the revenue we would bring in just because I didn't try my absolute hardest to generate more intrest from our families?

I don't want to bore you with the numbers, but those of you who attend booster meetings know how much it costs to run our music program and also, how very hard our boosters work to make sure we are able to cover our expenses.

So far I have heard back from about 12 people regarding this fundraiser, that includes myself. However, I happen to know that our booster email reaches far more than 12 families.

If you are not able to attend, I understand, but please do not just ignore this because you think someone else will take care of it.

Once again, here are the requirements:

It takes 12 people to run our stand. Our job at the concerts is to sell sodas, beer, nachos, and water to the concert attendees.

For the concert on the 16th I need, at the absolute minimum, 20 people, over the age of 21, who will volunteer their afternoon, evening and night on Saturday, March 16th and a little bit of the wee hours of Sunday morning the 17th . If I have only 20 people I will need a few brave souls who are able to be at the concert from 4PM until 2AM. If I get more than 20 volunteers we can split shifts.

In addition to being able to attend the concert on Saturday, March 16th. You will need to attend themandatory training session on either Friday night, February 22nd at 6PM or Saturday morning, February 23rd at 9AM.

Please email me and let me know if you are able to be part of this experience - bekky7628@yahoo.com

Just for kicks - here is the anticipated concert schedule for 2013. HOLD DATE means shows have not been determined yet.

One last thing to consider. If we made over $4,600 on 4 concerts last season (it was 4, not 5 as I stated in the previous email) imagine what our Brew Crew could add to our booster budget with 13 concerts.

Saturday, March 16th - BEYOND WONDERLAND
Saturday, June 8th - TIM MCGRAW
Saturday, June 29th - MAYHEM
JULY 25 - 28 - HOLD DATES
AUGUST 1 - 4 - HOLD DATES
Sunday, August 11th - HOLD DATE
Saturday, August 17th - HOLD DATE
Saturday, August 24th - BRAD PAISLEY
Saturday, August 31st - HOLD DATE
Saturday, September 7th - HOLD DATE
Friday, September 13th - HOLD DATE
Saturday, September 14th - HOLD DATE
Saturday, October 5th - HOLD DATE

If you have read this far you should know that you are not required to work all concerts. If all you can do is one or two we will work with you. If you can make it to more or all that is fantastic.

Thank you for taking time to read through this message.
