San Manuel Concession Sales - 2013

Hello REV Band Boosters,

One of the most profitable fundraisers the band boosters participate in is working a concession stand at San Manuel Ampitheater in Devore (formerly Glen Helen Pavillion).  The 2013 San Manuel concert season will begin in March and most likely run until October.  Our "job" at each scheduled concert is to fill our stand with 12 trained volunteers and serve sodas, beer and nachos to concert-goers. Sounds simple enough right?

A few additional things you need to know:

  • Volunteers in our stand MUST be 21
  • Every volunteer MUST attend training this year, even if you trained last year.
  • Even if you have a current food handler's card you still MUST re-take the training course for it to be valid with Aramark.
I do not have a full concert line up for the season yet, but please consider training so we can fill the spots we need for the March 16th concert.
If you have never participated in this fundraiser before it is a long day of standing, but you are surrounded by a fun group of people and time passes quickly.

If you are interested in training, would like more information about this fundraiser, or if you have any questions please email me directly at ways.and.means@revband.org.

Thank You,
Bekky Lee

2013-11-11: Escape from Wonderland Follow Up

posted Nov 12, 2013, 9:56 AM by Donna Cranfill   [ updated Nov 12, 2013, 9:56 AM ]

Hello Brew Crew:

Sorry it has taken a bit to get this info out.

Our last concert for the 2013 season was Escape from Wonderland.
Our stand earned $16,373 with $165 in tips.

I thank all of you who sacrificed going to the competition to be at the rave with us.

Enjoy the next few months off. Training for the 2014 season will begin in February.

2013-09-19: Sept 13 & 14 Follow Up

posted Sep 22, 2013, 10:16 AM by Donna Cranfill   [ updated Sep 22, 2013, 10:16 AM ]

Hello Brew Crew,

Well, we survived concerts #3 and #4 for September.
Friday was the super busy Iron Maiden/Megadeth/Anthrax extravaganza. We brought in $26,284 plus $323.00 in tips! Those are record breaking numbers for the season Crew. Great job!
Art Laboe was Saturday. Aramark had a few issues, such as a late delivery which resulted in warm beer for the night. Not to mention, since the Iron Maiden crowd were such heavy drinkers there wasn't a large beer supply for Saturday so a few brands sold out early.
Our total for the night was $12,903.50 with $93.50 in tips, which is on the low end of average for our stand. I'd say it wasn't so bad considering the issues with the warm beer and selling out.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you this weekend at the Nocturnal Wonderland Festival. It will be a sight to behold.

Just a reminder, we do still have two concerts to go this season. I still have not received a date for the Smoke Out, but Escape form Wonderland will be Saturday, October 26th. The times will be similar to this weekends festival. I'll let you know more as I know more.

Have a great rest of your week,
Bekky

2013-09-10: Rock the Bells Follow Up & Nocturnal Wonderland

posted Sep 11, 2013, 6:41 AM by Donna Cranfill   [ updated Sep 11, 2013, 6:41 AM ]

Hello Brew Crew,
We put in a lot of hours this weekend at Rock the Bells. We had awsome crews for both Saturday and Sunday. For those that were new to our crew it was a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of our stand without too much madness.
Our totals for the weekend came out to $14,363.50 for Saturday and $8,815.50 for Sunday. Our commission will be 6% for Alcohol Sales and 7% for Food & Non-Alcohol Sales. We can expect a commissions check around December.

Up for this weekend is Iron Maiden on Friday and Art Laboe on Saturday. We have full crews for both days.

Next Saturday on the 21st is our second rave for the season Nocturnal Wonderland.
Currently our crew is a little unbalanced. I have 11 on the day shift and 7 on the evening shift. If two or three of you on the day shift are willing to switch to the late shift please let me know. We always need more help in the evening than we do in the daytime.

If you are not signed up for the 21st, but are available to work the evening shift please let me know so I can add you to the crew list. I do not have times yet. I will let you know as soon as I have them.

I'd like to thank all of you who volunteer for this fundraiser. I hope it has been a good experience for all of you so far. Your willingness to volunteer your time on your weekends means a lot to me and to the REV Band Boosters organization.

I want to say thank you to Darla for putting in the long hours she did at Rock the Bells on Saturday and Sunday. She gave up her weekend to be in our stand from 11AM until closing on both days AND she's geared up to do it again for our all day Iron Maiden/Megadeth/Anthrax event on Friday and the Art Laboe concert on Saturday.

I'd also like to add a special note from crew member Angel Moore.
Sunday was her birthday and she gave up her evening to be in our stand. Thank you Angel.
Three other crew members who were also working that night found out it was her birthday and came back from their break with a funnel cake for her in celebration.
Sandra, Anne and Cedric, thank you for making Angel's night. And Darla, thank you for allowing her and her carpool to go home early.

See you all soon,
Bekky

Dear REV Band Boosters:
Ok, ok, I know I said August would be the last San Manuel training date, but due to the overwhelming amount of you who were dying to go, but couldn't make it to a Sunday morning training, you will be happy to know that the kind people of San Manuel Amphitheater have added one more training date - I think this will be the last one.
That means you still have an opportunity to earn some Fair Share credit for your band student. See the terms of the agreement below.
San Manuel Concessions Training will take place Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 6:00PM in the Green Room at San Manuel Amphitheater.

DIRECTIONS

Allow 30-35 minutes drive time begining at the Ford St. entrance to the I-10 freeway.
From I-10 or I-210: Drive north (toward CSU San Bernardino & Devore) on I-215. Drive PAST the signs that say "San Manuel Pavilion this exit".

Enter the park through GATE NUMBER 1. Follow the road back to the amphiteater. Turn into the VIP parking lot, then make a LEFT into the back stage parking lot. Park in the BACK STAGE PARKING LOT.

Hello Brew Crew,

Thank you to all of you who gave up your evening to help our crew at the Brad Paisley concert on Saturday night. I hear it was a busy. Our sales for the night were $19,469 with $264 in tips. That's pretty comparable to June's Tim McGraw concert where we brought in just under $21,000.
I hope everyone had fun.

Remember, September is our busy month beginning with Rock the Bells on September 7 & 8

Hello Brew Crew,

A follow up on the very hot, June 19th, Mayhem festival.
For this all day, outdoor event our stand made $11,670 and we earned $247.25 in tips - which goes directly into the Booster account. Way to go crew!

Also, I don't have the exact number, but for the Tim McGraw concert on June 8th our stand brought in almost $21,000 + $290 in tips.

Yes, I know, look at the comparison. Keep in mind, every little bit counts.

Enjoy the rest of your Summer,
Bekky

Hold Dates are dates the amphitheater is hoping to schedule concerts. They may have to let the dates go if they don't schedule anything. However, we still need to be available until they tell us otherwise.

The amphitheater is hoping to hold two more Rave's this season - one possibly in August or September and the other in October.

There are a few concert dates that also have Marching Band events scheduled. Just an FYI - we are under contract so we need to fill our stand regardless of the events taking place that day. See Below:

Saturday, August 24th - Drill Rehearsal/Brad Paisley
Saturday, September 7th - Drill Rehearsal/Rock the Bells
Saturday, September 14th - Pancake Breakfast & Car Wash/Art Laboe(?)

I will keep my fingers crossed that the October 19th hold date goes away.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of this information please ask and I will provide an answer for you. Other than that I will keep you informed as I find out more.

Thank You,
