Fundraising

We have two types of fundraising events, Student and Booster. Student events help the individual students offset the cost of band fees. Booster fundraisers provide funding for band costs not included in the Music department budget. These costs include equipment maintenance, payment for specialty instructors (drill, drum line, marching), additional instrument purchases, student scholarships, awards, and other costs as needed. Please understand that all money is for the students.

Summer Concession Fundraiser

At the Hyundai Pavilion, adults help support our music programs by earning funds for the Booster program. At these events, we will be selling beer, wine, soda, popcorn, nachos, and peanuts from a permanent booth.

Eleanor Group Spa Cards

REV's Band Boosters just started this new fundraiser.  You can give yourself FOUR visits to a day spa near you, or give the visits as gifts to other people.  They can choose a spa in their area; the services are all pre-set, so you can't specify what you would like to have done.  You'll be surprised to see what's available from the various spas for only $65.00 for ALL 4 visits (not per visit), and the Band Boosters will receive $15.00 from each spa card sold.  Read below for more details.  If this sounds intriguing to you, you can order the spa cards on line and they'll be mailed either to you or your gift recipient.  (We've been told that new spas are frequently added, so if you don't see one in your area, you can check back later.)

These would make great Mother's Day gifts, graduation gifts, "get-ready-for-summer" or "treat-me" gifts to yourself...

Scrip

The REV Band Boosters are pleased to offer a fundraising program for students in REV’s instrumental music programs. It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates and gift cards from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates and gift cards that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Stater Bros., Arco, Starbuck’s, Barnes and Noble, Carl’s Jr., Pizza Hut, J.C. Penny and many, many others. You can find the complete list of retailers at www.glscrip.com.

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, then redeem them for full face value, and our students keeps the difference as revenue in their individual Finance account. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

  • The retailer gets cash up front, and repeat business
  • You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling
  • Our Instrumental Music students get a regular source of revenue
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for your student’s music fees and field trips without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

Funding for the arts in our schools are consistently reduced leaving most classrooms and extra
curricular costs well below what is necessary for an adequate program.  Arts programs rely on the generosity of the community, business, and organizations such as your own to make ends meet.  While many schools receive $15,000 or more from their districts, and still need to raise funds, our music department as a whole receives 1/3 of that amount.   This has left a very large gap, which we are trying to fill through your support.

We are currently working to raise funds for instruments for an increasing number of children, as well as a trailer to carry equipment to performances and competitions.  The cost of this will increase our needs by approximately $20,000 over the above costs.

Your support of the arts and our music department would be greatly appreciated and will have return benefit and reward.

Adopt-A-Band

The REV Band Boosters, in conjunction with Ms. Glass, have identified over $40,000 of equipment and supplies that are needed to successfully run the instrumental music programs this school year. Above and beyond that, an additional $20,000 would be needed to acquire the “nice-to-have” items that would put the icing on the cake.

You can help support the programs by “adopting” items from the list, which range in price from $10.00 to $12,000.00. Look for the “laundry line” on display at various music programs and events, select an item to “adopt” and take the card to the Band Booster’s cashier. You can pay with cash or a check payable to REV Band Boosters. (All donations are tax deductible.)

If you would like to “adopt” something in the higher price range, perhaps you can team up with other band supporters and pool your contributions.

Ms. Glass displays the “adopted” item cards in the band room, so stop by and watch as the number grows!
